  • green cabbage, shredded1 head
  • smoked sausage or kielbasa, sliced12 ounce
  • yellow onion, sliced1 whole
  • garlic cloves, minced2 whole
  • apple cider vinegar1 tablespoon
  • olive oil1 tablespoon
  • salt and black pepper1 pinch

Instructions

    Heat the olive oil in a large deep skillet or Dutch oven over medium-high heat.

    Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned. Remove the sausage and set aside.

    In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and garlic. Sauté for 3 minutes in the sausage drippings.

    Add the shredded cabbage to the skillet. Stir well to coat with the remaining pan juices.

    Cover the skillet and cook on medium-low heat for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender and caramelized.

    Return the sausage to the skillet, stir in the apple cider vinegar, and season with salt and generous black pepper. Cook for 2 more minutes to heat through.
